This place is awesome. I came in with my family and immediately got greeted in from the door by such an awesome staff. Got treated with the best service and the food was delicious. i recommend coming here if you're nearby!

I often come here I usually get the fajitas, that's probably my favorite dish but I must say it is lacking creativity perhaps it's time for a change in the menu the chiefs in the kitchen need to be inspired again I had a sample of the menudo once and it was awful pure shit is the best way to describe it. I'd say it's time for the owners to have a chat with the chiefs because they need to step they're game up overall it's still a good place but the inspiration of the chiefs isn't there anymore DO Something about it

My dad and I went to Hemphill's for a late breakfast. This is an old-school, mom & pop type of place. English is not their first language. I suspect this place may have been a bar in some past life, but the food is good.
My dad had a more traditional breakfast. Sausage, eggs, hash browns, and two BIG pancakes. I had (I forget the name from the menu) steak, topped with eggs, and salsa, with refried beans. My meal came with tortillas and they were fresh-made on site.
Awesome tortillas. The steak was a little tough, but it had a nice flavor to it. The eggs ... were eggs. Cooked the way I ordered, but not much to say about over easy eggs. The refried beans had a good flavor and nice texture.
I don't remember any specifics that my dad said about his meal, but he had three plates of food and finished THEM ALL. He never does that. So, he must've really liked it. I'm sure we will be going back. -

Very good BBQ & sides in a large, family-friendly restaurant in Glen Rose. The ribs & brisket were both terrific, the service friendly & the atmosphere fun. Concrete floors, picnic tables for dining tables, sweet tea & rustic farm / ranch decor complete with brands, spurs, tin signs & a huge Texas flag.

If you're looking for a hole-in-the-wall place with decent Mexican breakfast food and low prices, then come to Hemphill's restaurant.
The service was a little slow, but everything was brought out correctly. I ordered coffee and chilaquiles. The coffee was weak for my taste, but refills were prompt and hot. The chilaquiles were made with corn tortillas, tender shredded chicken, and a pretty spicy salsa that gave the whole dish a spectacular flavor. A scoop of sour cream topped it off along with a side of received beans. Chips and salsa came out before the entree, and while the salsa needed a bit of salt (which is found on the table), it was tasty, and the chips were warm and crunchy.
My husband ordered menudo ($5.95) and got full off of it though it did look like a small portion, and again, it needed a bit of salt. Perhaps they generally cater to an older crowd. The kids ordered pancake and chorizo con huevo. The pancake was thin, but not dry, and the chorizo con huevo plate was a very good portion for $5.95 and delicious.
My family and I will come here again to try the lunch menu.
